The habit isn’t the problem. It’s the solution to a problem you haven’t named yet.
Four live sessions with Dr. Adi Jaffe. You map the loop you keep running, trace it to what it’s protecting, and leave with one commitment written in your own words — tested against the week you’ll actually have.
Built on the method in Unhooked and The Abstinence Myth — now taught live, with your own pattern on the table.
What happens when people work their own hook live
Unedited feedback from a live Unhooked workshop — 103 comments from leaders across 39 behavioral-health, education, tribal and public-sector organizations.

“The opportunity to put it in action live. It made me almost cry to acknowledge my hooks.”
R.S. · GRAND Mental Health“Having the ‘aha’ moment of recognizing my hooks as my addiction and opportunity for growth.”
E.J. · Wichita Mountains Prevention Network“I like the work with SPARO. I’ve been having a lot of aha moments lately. This feels like an intentional way to get those.”
T.N. · Oklahoma Dept. of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services“Looking at addiction as something more than just substance use… something everyone struggles with.”
B.R. · Cherokee Nation“Working with a partner and having all the ouchie moments of realization.”
R.S. · GRAND Mental Health“I will be applying what I’ve learned in my life. I especially liked the reminder to be grateful.”
L.K. · Quah RecoveryYou’ve already tried to think your way out of it.
From the outside it’s working. The company, the house, the calendar full of people who need you. From the inside there’s one thing you keep doing that you’d rather not — the drink at six that turns into four, the phone at midnight, the email you answer at dinner, the temper you apologize for on Sunday.
You’ve set rules. You’ve had good weeks. It comes back, because it was never random. It’s doing a job for you. Until you know what the job is, every rule you set is a rule against the one thing that’s been keeping you upright.
Willpower is a tool for moments. A hook is a system. You don’t beat a system with a moment.
The habit loop
The cue, the move, the relief. Learned, repeated, automatic — which is why it runs faster than your good intentions.
The thing it’s solving
The pressure, the loneliness, the old story about what you have to be. The loop is its most reliable answer so far. Work only on the loop and it comes back wearing a different outfit.
Two ways to spend the next 30 days
One session a week. Your pattern on the table every time.
Short teaching, then you do the work — in pairs, in the chat, and in live walk-throughs. You won’t watch a case study. You’ll be one.
Find the hook under the habit
Take the Unhooked audit live and map your loop: when it fires, where, and what it buys you. Nobody shows up saying they have an attachment wound. You show up wanting to drink less. We start there.
Walk one real moment through SPARO
One moment from your actual week, taken end to end with Adi’s SPARO method, until the pattern stops looking random and starts looking obvious.
Work the part the habit is protecting
Self-compassion practices drawn from Kristin Neff’s and Paul Gilbert’s research, applied to the specific thing your hook has been managing. Not a pep talk. A skill you practice in the session.
One commitment, in your words
An if-then plan, a pre-mortem on what will get in the way, a date, a witness and a report-back — the three things that separate commitments people keep from the ones they don’t.

- Two 90-minute hot-seat sessions (Thu Oct 29 & Nov 12) — Hot Seat and Inner Circle work their own pattern live with Adi. Never recorded.
- Coach office hours Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for Inner Circle, so the work doesn’t wait a week.
- A private cohort room in SPARx — your group, nobody else’s.
Choose how deep you go
Founding-cohort prices. They go up once this cohort has run.
Everything runs inside SPARx, IGNTD’s program app. Your sign-in link arrives by email the moment you enroll — no password to set up. Session links, replays, your cohort group and the private community room all live there.

Dr. Adi Jaffe
PhD in psychology and behavioral neuroscience from UCLA. Author of The Abstinence Myth and Unhooked. Founder of IGNTD. Executive coach to leaders inside private-equity-backed companies.
He also knows the loop from the inside — his own recovery is the reason he became a researcher. The Unhooked method is what he built after watching rules-first approaches fail smart, capable people for fifteen years.
Built for you if
Not the right room if
A few things people ask
Is this therapy?
No. It’s a live educational program built on Adi’s research and method. It doesn’t diagnose or treat anything, and it isn’t a substitute for care from a licensed clinician.
Do I have to talk on camera?
No. Cameras are optional and you can use a first name only. Nobody goes on the hot seat who didn’t sign up for it, and the hot-seat sessions are never recorded.
Is it only about drinking?
No. A hook is any loop that’s doing a job for you — drinking, the phone, work, food, spending, control, anger. The method is the same whatever the loop is.
Why does everything run through the SPARx app?
One place, one login, no lost links. You get a sign-in link by email as soon as you enroll. Seat and Hot Seat get SPARx Starter for the 30 days; after that your account moves to the free plan unless you choose to upgrade — nothing bills automatically. Inner Circle gets SPARx Premium, the full program.
What if I can’t make it live?
Every main session is recorded and waits for you in SPARx (the hot-seat sessions aren’t) — 30 days of replay on Seat, 90 on Hot Seat and Inner Circle. Come live if you can: the work happens in the room, and the refund window runs on session one.
I already took the Unhooked audit. How is this different?
The audit shows you there’s a pattern. The 30 days is where you work it — with Adi, live, until you leave with a commitment you wrote and tested yourself.
What happens after the 30 days?
For most people, the commitment and the practice are enough. Some keep going in SPARx Premium. A few apply for Adi’s small-group or 1:1 work, which is application-only.
